One of three stone-built bridges which cross the Wear to the Durham peninsula, Prebends bridge was designed and built in the late 1700's to replace a previous bridge which was damaged by floods. It gives one of the best views of the peninsula and serves as a meeting point for many of the best footpaths around the banks of the Wear
